नेति=न+ इति। अर्थात ऐसा नहीं, ऐसा नहीं।
नेति नेति का लोक=लोक जो इंद्रियों से परे हैं।

(१)
इस लोक , दिनों के नाम नहीं होते।
सारे बिना नाम के, रविवार होते हैं।
मंगल, सोम से पहले आ सकता है।
सूरज बस, ऊगता, डूबता रहता है।
ऊजाला, और अंधेरा आने जाने से ;
दिन और रात पहचाने जाते हैं।
ऊजले काले पंख* फड फडाता;
काल खग* उडता चला जाता है।

{काल खग*= समय रूपी पक्षी}

ये कबीर, मीरा, तुकाराम का देस है।
यहाँ सब कुछ खोकर आना होता है।
जो सब कुछ खोकर आ सकता है।
वो पागल ही यहाँ पहुँच सकता है।
माया, काया, मन मोहिनी जाया;
सब छोड आना कठिन होता है।

अचरज ! अचरज ही अचरज है।
तारों के पीछे छिप कर समय;
यहाँ आँख मिचौली खेलता है।
पेडों की छाया उसे नापती है।
पर छाया भी ढक जाए तो?
समय को ढक दिया जाता है।
घडी की डिबिया में समय, बन्द॥

यहाँ आपको नाम भी नहीं होगा।
पर, क्या करोगे उस नाम का?
किस को अपना नाम बताओगे?
चिल्ला चिल्ला कर आकाश को?
नाम यदि बताओगे अपना?
तो नाम लौटा दिया जाएगा।
जैसे लौटाते हैं खोटा सिक्का।

पर धरती पर भी तुम्हारे सिवा,
किसने सुना था, नाम तुम्हारा?
वो (?) समाचार पत्र में जो छपा था?
किसने पढा था नाम तुम्हारा?
देखा छाया चित्र तुम्हारा?
तुमने और तुम्हारी बीवी ने?

तुमने ही सुनी तुम्हारी प्रतिध्वनि।
सभी ही सुनते हैं अपनी अपनी।
मानते हैं संसार में बजाया डंका।
और डंका स्वयं ही सुन, देखते थे।
समाचार पत्र में फोटु अपना।
जो सिवा उनके कोई न देखता।

कभी देखो, चींटियों की पंक्ति को,
जो पिपल तने पर रेंगती जाती है:
अतः पिपीलिका कहलाती हैं।
सारी डंका बजा बजा कर जा रही है।
